If you're a designer in town for WWDC, check out the Layers design conference

Learn from the iOS and Mac community’s top designers and personalities right in the heart of San Francisco.

I love being in San Francisco during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference: It’s a great way to catch up with friends and other awesome folks in the community, and there are always so many interesting events outside of Moscone West that make it possible.

It’s one of the big reasons I’m thrilled to say I’ll be presenting at Layers, Jessie Char and Elaine Pow’s new conference centered around iOS and Mac design.

It’s such a smart move to have a design-focused conference during the relatively developer-focused WWDC — the Apple community has lots of events built around development and the lifestyle of the community, but there are very few events focused solely on design. This gives iOS and Mac designers a great event to attend while their developer co-workers are over in Moscone, and from what Jessie’s told me so far about her plans for Layers, I couldn’t be more excited about it. Good location, delicious snacks, and oh man, the people.

In partnership with Adobe, Jessie and Elaine have lined up an all-star crew to host, speak, and entertain during Layers. This includes Susan Kare, who designed the original Macintosh icons; Adam Lisagor, who’s made just about every great video for a third-party iOS app; Christa and Neven Mrgan, designers from Rogue Amoeba and Panic, respectively; longtime community members Merlin Mann and Scott Simpson, who also happen to do a monthly nerdy standup show called Three Ring Binder together… There are too many great people to list, so you’ll just have to go to the website and look at them all.

The conference runs June 8-10 at Bespoke on Market Street in San Francisco; you can check out more information and pick up tickets on the official Layers website.
